Xanthelasma
What are Xanthelasma?
Milky-yellow raised plaques within the eye area, above and below the eye. Milder conditions are paler in colour and smooth to the skin, whereas a more established condition can be thickened, raised and more yellow in colour.
Why do they develop?
Can have a genetic link, but often associated with a diet connection and cholesterol.
What are the treatment options?
There are a few options when it comes to treating xanthelasma. Cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen), which freezes the blemish. Doctors may surgically remove the blemish. Advanced Electrolysis, the preferred method for our clinic, is a form of electro-cautery, the most refined and precise method. Its pin-point accuracy makes it a safe and effective option for this condition within the eye area.
What is the recovery time?
Depending upon the severity of the condition, a temporary noticeable scab/crust will form. This will slough off once the skin has fully healed.
How much can be treated at the appointment?
The amount treated will be discussed during the consultation. If you have a large amount, a treatment plan will be design to suit your individual needs.
What is the price of treatment?
Consultation only: £20
A singular xanthelasma: £65
Multiple xanthelasma: £90
*If treatment is received on the same day as the consultation, there is no consultation fee.
