Skin Tag Removal

What are skin tags?

Skin tags (Acrochordon) are harmless, soft floppy protrusions of skin, commonly found within the armpits, under the breasts, groin area, between the buttocks and the eye area. Their attachment is always smaller than the body of the tag, without hairs or blood vessels present.

Why do they grow?

They are always located where the skin folds, creating friction. There is a link to genetics, the human papillomavirus, insulin resistance, age and weight gain.

What are the treatment options?

There are a few options when it comes to treating skin tags. Cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen), which freezes the blemish, Ligation, tying a thread or band around the tag, this is a slow death. Advanced Electrolysis, the preferred method for our clinic,  is a form of electro-cautery, the most refined and precise method. It's pin-point accuracy makes it a safe and effective option for the eye area.

What is the recovery time?

The healing is dependant upon the location of the tag and the size of the attachment. Following the treatment, a temporary scab/crust will form. This will slough off once the skin has fully healed.

How many skin tags can be treated at the appointment?

The amount treated will be discussed during the consultation. If you have a large amount, it is advisable to have treatment over two separate appointments.

What is the price of treatment?

Consultation: £20

A singular Skin Tag:  £65

Multiple Skin Tags:  £90

*If treatment is received on the same day as the consultation, there is no consultation fee.
