Verrucae Treatment
What are verrucae?
A verruca is viral wart located on the feet. Often flatter compared to warts due to weight bearing pressure.
Why do they grow?
These benign warts are caused by the human papilloma virus. The virus is spread when the skin is broken or compromised, skin-to-skin contact and often in wet conditions, such as swimming, showers and bathing.
What are the treatment options?
There are a few options when it comes to treating verrucae. Cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen), which freezes the blemish, topical products, such as salicylic acid, causing slower healing rates. Advanced Electrolysis is a form of electro-cautery, the most refined and precise method. This treatment cauterises the HPV virus, promoting healing.
What is the recovery time?
It is advisable to keep the area clean, dry with little pressure following the treatment. There is no obvious down time during the healing.
How many verrucae can be treated at the appointment?
The amount treated will be discussed during the consultation. If you have a large amount, a treatment plan will be design to suit your individual needs. Verrucae can require follow up treatments, 6 weeks apart.
What is the price of treatment?
Consultation only: £20
Treatment session: £45
*If treatment is received on the same day as the consultation, there is no consultation fee.
